I Have Left My Blog Lonely For Too Long

It has been so long since I paid any attention to my blog...so sorry everyone. I thought I would update everybody. Last Tuesday I had shoulder surgery which I had been trying to get done for awhile now. Torn Labrum...all repaired now, just have to wait for the achiness to go away. I want so badly to get back to creating more clocks...I have now starting producing a line of vintage repurposed jewelry that I think you will love as I do. I may even add more lace items to my collection. I have always collected and loved vintage lace...ideas will come to me as I look at and hold it. There is a huge 40% off sale in my shop right now...just put the word  thankful  in the coupon code and click on recalculate for the huge savings. Hopefully, within the next few weeks I will be able to use my right arm to make some new creations for you all. See you in The Cottage soon!

I  just love the idea of "Giveaways" but having never done one..no clue as to what needs to be done..I would be grateful if someone would either post something here to teach me the ins and outs of a giveaway or if you would rather email me, that would be just fine    beckysrosecottage@comcast.net   I am looking forward to hearing from some knowledgeable bloggers...If any other blogs would like to join me in a Giveaway just let me know...if you can teach me how to hook something like that up...I would go for it..thank you so much for all your kindness and willingness to share...Hugs, Becky

Spring Is In The Air...I think..burrrrr

I keep thinking Spring is coming and then we get another day in the 40's....I am longing for the warming of the soil...of my little corner of the world...I want to get out to the fleas and look at all the unexpected treasures that pop up.
My sweet, adorable husband was kind enough to make me some fork easels for my website...of course, I have not had time to put them on but they will get there someday. They make lovely display stands for photos, tintypes and vintage postcards...I even  use one in the kitchecn to rest my receipe card on while mixing a yummy treat...which reminds me, I found  a receipe that calls for Devil's Food Cake Mix and a can of Pumpkin...that is all...the cupcakes look yummy. I really have to try them...
Here are some pictures of the fork easels...let me know what you think...

Next I have a bunch of vintage silverplate spoon hooks to embellish..I will work on them, today. So many ideas rumbling around in my head...that is the true sign that Spring is coming, now the temps outside need to cooperate.
My craft room is full of vintage jewelry taken apart ready to be repurposed and lace by the ton that needs to be transformed into something wonderfully useful...I love the feeling that comes over you when your own Creativity Spring begins to overflow....visions of lovely every where I look.Until next time...

Check out the new clocks I added to "The Cottage" just the other day

Just added some really pretty new vintage rose china clocks to Becky's Rose Cottage the other day...something new and different...using vintage moulding, lace, parchment roses and some pretty vinage rhinestones...I am working on some silverplate fork stands and spoon hooks, too..trying to decide if I should leave them as is or add something to them to shabby chic them up....any suggestions out there?

The Passing Of My Father-In-Law

The past month or so has been very difficult. My 91 yr old father-in-law just started wearing down. I think since his wife passed in 2007 he has been so sad that he had trouble finding a reason to continue. One infection after another would happen at the nursing home. A trip to the hospital...tests, more and more medicine. He was transfered to Heartland Hospice in Hockessin, De a week ago this past Monday. On 1/20/2011 he passed into the arms of the angels. Although it was very hard because we all love him so...we could see how much work it was for him to pass. He was so weary of it all. I will always miss him, he was my last parent in this world but am thankful that God will make sure there is no more suffering for Dad. He was a very good and loving man. After the services are done I am going to try to slowly get back to my creative side...need to create some lovely pieces to pull me back to the land of the living. Sometimes that adjustment is hard to do but God does not want us to worry about those that are safe with Him now. I want to thank all my friends for all their kindness during this hard time. God Bless You All.  With much love, Becky

The Start of a New Year

Well, the Holidays are over and the New Year has begun...always exciting to think of what it will bring..what changes are in store. I have been wanting to do more work with lace. Although, I am not much of a sewer, I may have to do some learning because visions of lacy delights keep dancing through my mind. I put aside a few articles of clothing to see if I could repurpose them with some of my vintage lace...everytime I see a piece of vintage lace lately it has just moved me.
Also, I have visited so many beautiful blogs lately with giveaways to just die for...lace, vintage buttons, and whatnots. I would love to do one here in the near future as soon as I can figure out how to work it all out. I am still rather new to this blogging business. If anyone out there in blog world would like to send me some info on how I could set up a giveaway with one of those random number generators I would be so thankful. I just love the idea of bundling up some goodies to give to someone. There is nothing like receiving a package of vintage goodies in the mail...so hopefully before too long I will learn how to do it and have a giveaway of my own here at Becky's Blogging Place. Hope you all had a wonderful Holiday season that was very satisfying for you. Wishing you all a Happy New Year full of vintage glory and creative fun!
Having a really good sale at my website http://www.beckysrosecottage.com/  50% 0ff your entire order, just put happynewyear in the coupon code and click on recalculate for your savings. You spent the Holidays buying for everyone else, here is a chance to buy yourself some vintage goodies at a fantastic price. Hope to see you in "The Cottage" soon.    Till next time...Becky

Still Reeling From Being In Romantic Homes But Coming Back Down Slowly

I am still very happy about being in Romantic Homes January issue but am slowly returning to Earth. I have started cleaning the house, room by room two days ago. Today is the kitchen..biggest job of all...cannot bake Christmas cookies all next week if the kitchen is not up to par. I have taken down all my vintage cake pedestals and crystal bowls from the tops of my cabinets. Some are in the dishwasher and the rest washed by hand. I cannot believe how good it feels to get this done. I just turned on the self-cleaning oven...so at least one of the ovens will be clean as I bake next week. I still have yet to make up my cookie list. I am going to try and keep it to about 6 different kinds although I have receipes for many more than that. Of course, with 4 grown children, they all have different favorites...and the grandchildren have their favorites, too. I have the grandchildren over for sugar cookie decorating. I put aside about 4 dozen cookies for them to icing and sprinkle little goodies on them..The younger the grandchild the less icing and sprinkles that make it to the cookie..very funny to watch. This year hopefully all 8 can come over and play decorate the cookies. I am going to make some white gingerbread girls and boys for them to do using my sugar cookie receipt this year, something new..It is hard to pick every year what to make. I will have to figure it out...I think this is the year to pass on some favorite receipes to the grown children to make. I like when they take over a tradition. Christms eve was always at our home when the children were little. We would have relatives come over after midnight church services..it was a wonderful time. Love, laughter and food everywhere. Now one of my sons, Stashul and his wonderful wife, Susan have taken on this tradition with a Christmas Eve party at their home each year. I loved hosting this event but as we get older it really is special to see your children want to do it also. We usually do New Year's Eve at my oldest son's home, Donovan and his wonderful wife, Christie host that..always a good time being with family!
